Inexpensive Wedding Food To Make A Wonderful Reception

Inexpensive Wedding Food To Make A Wonderful Reception

One of the most important parts of planning a wedding day is the food to be served, and when it comes to making inexpensive wedding food good, it can be a challenge. But a challenge that can be met and very nicely.

One of the things to consider is planning the reception at a time when it does not include a sit down dinner as this is the most costly food to serve at your reception.

Here are some ideas for you to use as a guideline.

Luncheon Buffet Reception:

A late morning wedding can be followed by a luncheon buffet of finger sandwiches and other finger foods. Make a variety of salads a part of the offering.

Add a dessert table full of tasty sweets and Danish pastries to top off the meal.

Dessert Reception:

This would be normally be anywhere from 2 to 5 PM and can be special and still low cost.

The desserts can be made or ordered from your favorite bakery and include tarts, French pastries, cookies, pies and cupcakes.

Champagne is a perfect thing to serve along with coffee, tea and a non-alcoholic drink of your choice.

In fact, cupcake wedding cakes are a trend being embraced by many couples these days as a less expensive wedding cake.

On your wedding invitations you might indicate to guests that it will be dessert and champagne so they will know not to expect a full meal.

Brunch Reception:

This would be held in the 10-11 AM time frame and serve fruit, quiche, muffins, muffins, Danish pastries and delicious coffee cakes.

If you are having young people and children set us a table of assorted donuts as a treat for them and "kids" of any age.

Good coffee, mimosas and any other drinks of your choosing that goes well with the menu is fine.

Do a hot chocolate bar if you are having a fall or winter wedding. It will be a big hit and most appreciated.

Afternoon Tea Reception:

This to be planned for mid-afternoon and is a bit different and really enjoyable.

The food served is usually tea sandwiches in a variety of fillings. Mini-dessert pastries as small éclairs, cream puffs, brownie and mini cupcakes as an example.

There should be the wedding cake as a centerpiece for the affair.

An assortment of hot teas, champagne, and perhaps sweet sherry might be offered as drinks.

This would be more inexpensive than a full dinner and is different for an afternoon wedding reception.

Cocktail Reception:

Less expensive than a dinner and usually takes place from 4-7 PM. It can be done with elegance and style.

Serve just hors d'oeuvres arranged attractively on trays. These can be ordered from your favorite supermarket or make them yourself. Supermarket trays can be made more personal by rearranging them and adding your own garnishes to make them really pretty.

The most important thing when having inexpensive wedding food is the number of guests invited. So include the family and friends you really want to share this day and this memory with.
