Start to Celebrate With These Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Ideas

Start to Celebrate With These Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Ideas

According to tradition the parents of the groom host a dinner the day of the wedding rehearsal for all the wedding party and the parents of the bride and groom to meet and enjoy time together. These wedding rehearsal dinner ideas might help in making it a special time for all.

If for some reason the groom's parents cannot be the host there is nothing wrong with other relatives or even the bride and groom hosting this affair. In this case there are no set rules.

Many hosts want to mail invitations; again this is not necessary. A phone call, or even an email, is acceptable. Usually the way it happens is that after the wedding rehearsal is over all those involved proceed over to the designated dinner location and the fun begins.

There are a number of wedding rehearsal dinner ideas, and the one you choose will probably depend on your particular likes, style and the budget available for this event.

Here are some ideas and I am sure you have your own to use or combine with one of these.

Buffet

Have the group over for a buffet in your home. It can be catered or you and the family can prepare the food. This is quite a wonderful way to let your attendants and parents mingle and talk with each other in a warm and casual way.

Barbecue

A backyard barbeque is another casual way of having all the very important people in your wedding party visit and get to know each other and your parents better before the wedding.

Hawaiian Luau

What a perfect thing to do if you are having a beach, beach themed or outdoor wedding. The luau food is wonderful and include some appropriate music, and have your guests come in dress to fit the occasion.

Formal Sit Down Dinner

You might just be a couple who wants a more formal sit down affair at a restaurant for your guests. Many restaurants have separate rooms you can book for the dinner where you can even ask them to set up a table of hors d'oeuvres for a before dinner treat along with beverages to make it a cocktail hour.

An Opposite Approach

If you are having a formal wedding, go the opposite way and have a very casual rehearsal dinner or visa versa. That would be fun for you and your guests.

Theme Dinners

Aside from the luau, themes make an easy way to plan the food and any decorations or entertainment you want. A Mexican fiesta, Italian, Greek, soul food, Chinese and so on. You get the idea and what fun it will be to plan something like that.

The rehearsal dinner could be a good time to have the Groom's cake and let it and the Groom take center stage as you honor him and show your love.

This is also a really good time to go over any last-minute details with your family and the bridal party.

The attendants gift, if not already given, can be distributed at this time.

A word of caution I would make is to not drink a lot of alcohol at the dinner. Make it an EARLY evening and all go home and get rested for the really big day to follow.

These ideas for your wedding rehearsal dinner can make it fun to plan, fun to go to, and a joy to those you wish to say "thank you" to.
